Designed by the architectural firm of D.A. Bohlen and Son, the "Subway" (or Underpass) was constructed in 1927 at a cost of $170,000.For those unfamiliar with Crown Hill it is a surprise to discover this structure which passes beneath 38th Street to connect the northern and southern sections of Crown Hill, eliminating the need to leave the property to cross 38th Street.
