Chongqing is one of four major municipalities in China and is largely considered as the 'gateway' to western China. It has major plans to open new rail and airports to connect different parts of China and the West. It is also one of 7 official emissions trading pilots. It ranked 13th in the last PITI. Chongqing is also the 13th richest, with a GDP per capita of $5,341.
