1929 a photographer. Best known for her 1930s urban views published in
1939 as
Changing New York, she was also a sought-after portraitist. Among her lesbian subjects were
New Yorker writer
Janet Flanner, writer
Djuna Barnes;
Jane Heap and
Margaret Anderson, founders in 1914 of the avant-garde literary magazaine
Little Review, and poet
Edna St. Vincent Millay.
