Auschwitz was the biggest, most nortorious concentration camp, and in it there branched many railroad tracks leading to smaller work campsthat brutally killed and tortured many Jews. It was opened in 1940 after Germany seized control of Poland. Now there are still chambers and bunk houses standing
that the public can visit. In these concentration camps the strong where made to work and the weak
where exterminated and gas chambers, and burned, and even beaten to death. Many died of malnutrition.
When the camp was liberated, thousands of corpses lay behind, and the German soldiers where forced
to give them a proper burial.
