Since 1974, a total of 58 people died in this village group. Among them, 29 died of cancer. Only 1 person died due to natural mortality. According to samples obtained by environmental volunteers, experts including Lin Jingxing from China Geological Scientific Institution discovered that local soil, and flours and vegetables produced there were all contaminated by highly toxic elements.
