Harrisburg sinkhole - Sinkholes 2012 (sitios de interés)
Descripción del sitio
Two large sinkholes in the 2100 block of North Fourth Street are among at least 40 sinkholes covered by steel plates citywide, according to Kevin Hagerich, director of the city’s Department of Public Works. Hagerich has asked employees to pinpoint the location of all sinkholes throughout the city. So far, they have called in 29, said Robert Philbin, spokesman for Mayor Linda Thompson. Typically, ruptured pipes in the city’s more than 100-year-old water and sewer systems causes erosion that leads to these collapses. Many of the pipes are made of clay.
