"At 010401Z Dec 06, CF engaged by SAF 1.2km W of GARMSER DC (GARMSER District, HELMAND Province). Snipers engaged TB; 2x KIA. Snipers/HMG/105mm engaged a number of ID'd TB locations; 1x KIA. Milan was used to engage TB base building, followed by 105mm, 3x TB KIA confirmed, poss 2 further TB KIA. ICOM chatter suggested more WIA. F16 engaged and destroyed building (a known TB FP). 2x TB were seen entering the building but not exiting. TIC closed at 0728Z."

"CJSOTF reports ASG convoy struck a PPIED that was placed between two ASG checkpoints. They reported 5x ASG KIA and 9x ASG WIA. F24 arrived at the area as QRF and requested MEDEVAC. CAS was requested. At 1437Z, they linked up with ASG. At 1545Z, RCVG heavy enemy ICOM radio traffic. TIC declared complete 1832Z. Unit reported as the Hilux approached the CF outer cordon, it failed to halt. CF then engaged the vehicle and at that time it detonated. "(CEXC) On 05 January at 1630L a black Toyota Hilux Surf SUV with one passenger reportedly wearing white clothing, detonated at the Marghah COP (Combat OutPost) construction site. The vehicle breached the outer perimeter (consisting of concertina wire) and was making its way to the inner perimeter when CF engaged it with SAF. The driver was seen reaching for something in the vehicle at which point the detonation occurred. On 06 January at 1315 Paladin was dispatched to the site to exploit the scene. No evidence was found to suggest that more than one person occupied the vehicle."

"At 070444ZJAN07 TF WOLFPACK reported the Khost ANP reported a LN station wagon struck a land mine on the side of the road 7km West of Khowst City when the vehicle was returning from the Khowst Hospital. The vehicle was transporting 2x mothers and their new borns along with 1x LN Female and 1x LN Male. ANP reported the mine was vic of Dar Kutah-E Village. The 2x Mothers and 2x new-borns were killed. The Male and Female LN were transported to the Khowst Hospital. The ANP cleared the site. ANP confirmed it was not an IED. ISAF tracking #01-081."

The vehicle was stationary with its hood up so convoy could not see inside. Lead convoy vehicle pulled up along the drivers side approx 20m away. Before ANA could exit vehicle to investigate, the single shaven male detonated the vehicle. Paladin was dispatched to the site to exploit the scene at 1100L. Due to the extensive damage to the suicide vehicle, the exact method of initiation could not be determined at the time of this report. The main charge is believed to be approximately 50 Kg NEW. Main charge was made up of various pieces of ordnance to include Yugoslav M71 82mm Mortar, Unknown illumination projectile, and one propane tank. The blast crater was fairly shallow suggesting that the main charge was placed in a relatively high position in the vehicle similar to SVBIED on 5 Jan 07 (CEXC_AFG_007_07). From assessing the damage sustained to the suicide vehicle and the pattern of debris thrown by the blast, it is believed that the main charge was placed in the back seat of the vehicle or in the trunk on the drivers side. "At approximately 101345ZJAN07 TF Catamount reports receiving intel that two different elements (one of approximately 125x pax from the south, and one of approximately 60x pax from the north), were moving to attack the Mergah COP. ISR was diverted, and confirmed the report. CAS, CCA, and additional ISR were diverted to support. 1450Z TF Catamount engaged the southern target with Artillery, CAS, and CCA, and CAS engaged the northern target. ISR then moved to observe the suspected release point where the enemy vehicles were located. 1928Z CAS observed 25x enemy pax (vic WB 353 238), and ISR moved to observe the target as well. TF Catamount coordinated fires and CAS. CAS engaged the 25x pax, and after further observation, there was no further activity. ISR is remaining in the area overnight to continue observation. 2226Z Tf Catamount reports observing 7x enemy pax consolidating on the Afghan/PAK border. TF Catamount engaged with IDF and CAS. 4x enemy pax managed to egress into Pakistan. "At 142202ZJAN07, a CJSOTF element conducting a patrol approx 130 km east of Farah, reported receiving SAF. The element returned fire and requested CAS. CAS was approved and arrived on-station as the element continued to engage, maneuvering on the enemy force. Following the engagement, the element confirmed 3x EKIA in the area and captured a HILUX truck associated with the attack along with numerous weapons. The element is currently enroute back to Farah and will utilize available CAS to support exfiltration. At 0245Z, CJSOTF requested a MEDEVAC for 1x US CIV and 5x Non US MIL who where injured in a vehicle roll over. W/U BSN 0421Z, W/D 0448Z, W/U 0452Z, W/D BSN 0522Z M/C. "At 160503ZJAN07 TF Phoenix reported one silver Toyota Corolla rammed the Camp Phoenix front gate at 0430Z. The gate personnel noted wires hanging from the vehicle. The Pakistan driver was removed from the car by guards and detained. EOD was notified and a 200 meter safe zone was established. A cordon was set on route violet, and route violet and the main gate were declared BLACK. Gate 8 remained open and was RED. The detained driver said there was a bomb in the vehicle and the interpreter at the gate verified the presence of a bomb. EOD inspected the vehicle with a robot. ANP were at the scene to assist with the cordon. Based on the amount of explosives in the vehicle, the inside perimeter was increased to 300 meters, EOD continued to work on clearing the vehicle and reported they would not intentionally detonate the vehicle in place to allow exploitation by TF Paladin. The vehicle was being exploited by the robot when it detonated resulting in minor injury to several Local Nationals who were treated by TF Phoenix Medics and 1x robot destroyed. The main gate was damaged in the explosions and is not accessible. Event was closed at 1130Z. The unit was also engaged by SAF out of several directions. The unit engaged enemy locations and moved back towards PB Poent Jak. During this period the PB supported the unit with 25mm and mortar. AH were sent ISO the TIC. At this time the TIC is still open and AHs are still ISO due to lot of suspicious movements. Ground QRF was activated from TK and sent to exploit the location of the strike. Patients were evacuated by TKH to NLD R2E. Patients are stable. "At 230955Z Jan 07, TFK received word from the private contractor providing security at FOB MARTELLO (SHAH WALI KOT District, KANDAHAR Province) that at 0745Z this afternoon, the FOB came under TALIBAN attack from all sides. The commander on the scene was looking for a show of force demonstration from CAS ASAP. The show of force was temporarily effective, but TB have recommenced attack since the A/C left. The situation has calmed down. 15x Local contractors KIA and 10x LC WIA. UPDATE: FF moved to support FOB Martello from the Comd on the ground, chief contractor/ASG; the fighting has subsided. The security company WIA have been taken away for treatment. The KIA are still at the FOB. An unknown number of TB prisoners have been transported to Tarin Kowt for hand-over to ANSF. FF reported they were at FOB Martello had have conducted link-up with ASG. FOB Martello is reported to be secured and no enemy contact. TIC closed at 1700Z."
