0: Ryan's Irish Pub
We haven't been in a year. Not sure if it's still around. Worth a look. Half priced drinks on Thursday nights till 9 pm. We went several times in the beginning but eventually got tired of all the unshowered Peace Corps volunteers. :)
Más sobre Ryan's Irish Pub1: Duplex
They charge a cover now. cheapish drinks (large Gulder is best value), and professional bartenders. Lots of dudes, but the girls are starting to find the new location. Good for dancing, drinking, and meeting members of your preferred gender. Starts late. Recommendation is to finish a beer tower at Epos and then head over after 11pm.
Más sobre Duplex2: The Container
Officially "Lizzie", most people know it by "The Container". Local spot, quite ok.
Female fellow comments: The toilet is a hole in the ground. Best to avoid.
Más sobre The Container3: Eggsandwich
Nothing better than the eggsandwich stand opposite of the container after a night out!
Más sobre Eggsandwich5: Bella Roma
Expat Bar/Disco. Quite expensive, can't get in with sandals. Wear closed shoes if you might end up there. Really good food. Good for large groups. You can go early and arrange a price-fixed food festival with the chef and he will just keep bringing out dishes of yummy food once you arrive.
Más sobre Bella Roma6: Mamma Mia
Best Pizza Place in Town. Period. The 20-25 Cedi might sound a lot, but you'll be willing to pay it by the time Christmas comes around.
Más sobre Mamma Mia7: Monsoon
The heart of the expat community. Sushi Bar. Expensive but good. Good destination for staff dinner. Bar gets pretty clubby late on Friday and Saturday night with high-priced hookers and fat old expats negotiating international trade deals.
Más sobre Monsoon8: Venus
Mostly a bar. Has Shisha / Hookah / Water pipes for ~7 Cedi.

Landmark: Tell taxi driver "Metro TV, Labone". Sometimes they know Melting Moments right away.
Más sobre Metro TV16: Celsbridge Pub
Basically a fancy spot. Good food, you'll probably be one of the only Obrunis.Good late night pizzas. Dance club in the back. Good place when you are tired of seeing all the same people.
Más sobre Celsbridge Pub17: Koffee Lounge
On the parking lot behind A&C. Has good coffee and surprisingly a good asian menu. Sandwiches are good, too. Your first address if you are too lazy to cook on weekends.
Más sobre Koffee Lounge18: City Spot
Not 100% about the name but its a really cool little spot bar in Tesano West. There is an outdoor patio with tons of red Chinese lanters (thats how you know you're at the right place) where you can hang out, drink and eat. They have a pretty good pizza for 8 cedis. The bar inside is nice with lounge chairs and an area to dance. Its mostly Ghanaians which also makes it different than most of the bars in Osu and there aren't many hookers. At least when we were there.
Más sobre City Spot19: Luscious
In A&C parking lot area. Not bad. Free Wifi. Pretty expensive but decent. Good place for a meeting with people in suits. AC works. Has a decent TV. They usually switch the channel to what you want to watch - good place to watch Tennis matches.
Más sobre Luscious21: The Venue
A bit pricey but good food. Pizza is rated second after Mama Mia. Burgers are nice, too. Frequent lodging place and hang out for visiting guest lecturers.

Más sobre Accra Mall26: Labadie Beach
The part of the beach that is not owned by hotels. Will cost you 5 Cedi entrance + ~8 Cedi for the cab ride. Pretty nice if you stayed in Accra over the weekend and want to go to the beach on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon. There are a lot of small restaurants on the beach that have their chairs almost to the waterfront. So you won't be lying on the beach, but sit in one of those restaurants. Pretty busy on the Weekends. New German-owned place just to the right when you hit the beach has shisha.
Más sobre Labadie Beach27: Reagge Night
Wednesday evenings on the same beach. Again 5 Cedi entrance + ~8 Cedi for the cab. Picks up pretty late (not before 11 pm) and is quite a travel.

Más sobre Banku junction30: Jade Palace
Chinese restaurant. A bit out of our price range, but pretty good as far as we can tell.
Más sobre Jade Palace31: Jerry's
A local spot, the closest you can get from MEST. Kebab's in the front. An East Legon institution because of the home made gin they serve (Atemuda). You must try it between downing Stars. Taxi drivers may know the spot as "atemuda" (after the name of the gin).
Más sobre Jerry's33: Living Room
Upscale spot. Has a big screen in the backyard. Is also in walking distance. Best thing about this place: The vendor in the front of it might have the best sausages in all of Ghana.
Más sobre Living Room35: The Lexington
Hands down the best bar in Accra. Chris, the GM has trained all the bartenders so well. They actually make amazing cocktails with love. Very expensive but absolutely worth it. Friday and Saturdays are best. They also have amazing food and brunch. Dress sexy. Bar is located on the grounds of the Paloma hotel.
Más sobre The Lexington37: Circle
Trotro station. One of the central stations. Very busy, we ended up taking taxis most of the time, because of the long queues.
Más sobre Circle40: Labadie Beach Hotel
Great place for staff outings: Sundays for Lunch they have a all you can eat from 12:30 to 2:30. Food is really good, but the whole thing is pricey (48 GHC) and drinks are not included.
Más sobre Labadie Beach Hotel41: +233 jazz bar
This is a nice getaway from the regular Ghana.
Live Jazz and Highlife most nights. The heart of live Jazz in Ghana.
The place is pretty expensive (we paid 10GHC cover and 5 GHC for a star) but it felt justified. It's classier but there is not dress code of any sort. Amazing burgers and meat sticks.
Más sobre +233 jazz bar42: Night Market
Not sure this exists anymore. Need verification. The night market on the University of Ghana campus is often frequented by Obrunis, since it is close to international students housing. You can get good eggsandwich and other food there.

Upscale restaurant that turns into a fun nightclub later. Also has shwarma for lunch at decent prices. You can get Shisha in the club. Pretty expensive. They have serious sushi, imported a sushi chef and sushi waitress. Tell the taxi driver: Labone(Opposite Coffee Shop)74 Olotti Street
Más sobre Chase Lounge49: Rich's House 12 Flower Road
Tell the taxi East Legon Police Station. Flower Road dead ends at the Police Station. From there it is a 2 minute walk. Blue gate on right. It is a 12 minute walk from MEST
Más sobre Rich's House 12 Flower Road50: Legacy
Similar to Jerry's, a spot-type local bar on the side of the road. Genuinely cheap beer (2.50 for a large),
Más sobre Legacy51: La Terrasse Creperie
Cool outdoor French cafe with dozens of savory and sweet crepes. French cider for 20cedi/bottle and French wine for 15cedi per bottle. Really yummy and casual. Great for a Sunday afternoon hang out. A little pricy on the creps (10 cedi each) but worth it.

Pool side cafe with expensive food and drinks. Really nice though with music most evenings. 2 minute walk from MEST. Might be closed now but worth checking out.
Más sobre Lizzy Pool Cafe55: Appetite Cafe
Really nice 2nd floor cafe/lounge with a diverse menu. Gets hoppin' on Friday nights. Relatively expensive. Opening a nightclub downstairs soon.
Más sobre Appetite Cafe57: H Street Brewpub and Restaurant
Possibly the most life-changing find in Accra. After several months of drinking Club and Star, you will be dying for a real beer. They make them here. Bottle-conditioned small-batch microbrews by a Ghanaian/American guy who is really nice. Also amazing American food menu. If you can walk from campus to Atomic road you can get a trotro for cheap to the Total Filling station. Call before you go because the owner doesn't quite understand life and they only have the good beer 2 weeks out of 4. 0243364675
Más sobre H Street Brewpub and Restaurant58: Aphrodesiac Nightclub
The place to be on Thursday night. Doesn't start until 12:30. Thursday is ladies night and there are so many girls you risk decision paralysis. Sometimes only half of them are professionals. Beers are expensive so frontload properly before going. For more than 3 people a bottle might be an option if you really want to have a rough Friday at the office.
(This is not the exact location - it's within a couple of blocks of here. The place has recently relocated, and Google's location is out of date. Taxi drivers know where the new place is, so don't stress)
Más sobre Aphrodesiac Nightclub59: Krystis Nighclub
Huge and painted weird colors, this place resembles a movie theater when you first walk in. They have 2 fast food restaurants on 2 floors that look mediocre. The fun part is you walk upstairs and go over to a tiny door behind the counter on the right and it takes you into a secret lounge and nightclub that has 4 pool tables, cheap drinks, food, and enough guys and girls to make it interesting. A great way to start the night or really impress a local with you knowledge of secret clubs.
Más sobre Krystis Nighclub60: Kokrobite Beach
Past Bojo beach. Quieter than Bojo. You can find a hut on the beach and commission locals to cook you a meal. Probably best to call ahead once you meet someone there. Water is clean with good waves for boogeyboarding or body surfing. About an hour from Accra now that the new road is built. We usually found a taxi that would take us for 25 cedi.
Más sobre Kokrobite Beach61: Holywood Blvd Lounge
Between Luscious and Coffee lounge. New place that just opened. Super expensive food and expensive drinks, but the only proper lounge in East Legon after Kryslys. Very nice Miami Beach feel inside. Good music. A place to see and be seen.
Más sobre Holywood Blvd Lounge62: Fampy Spot
Probably the greatest find of the semester in terms of proximity and price. Tiny spot that opens up inside to a large beer garden. You can get meat sticks for 1 cedi and large Stars for 3 cedi. The meat stick guy can be commissioned to bring you some sliced mango also. Good music, great feel, amazing bargain. Also good spot to bring the EITs to to watch a football match.
Más sobre Fampy Spot63: La Palm Hotel
A great splurge for a Sunday afternoon. 20 Cedi to go to the pool but they have the only swim-up bar we have found in Ghana. Really nice pool. Expensive food. A swim-up large star is 6.50cedi. But such a beautiful setting it's worth it. Fun place to flirt with the girls or guys you met the night before and get nasty looks from the moms with their kids. :)
Más sobre La Palm Hotel64: Kokrobite Garden, Franco's Place
Amazing little guest houses 2 min walking distance from the beach. Locals know it as Italian restaurant. The owners are a Spanish lady and an Italian guy. Food is amazing, atmosphere is great, and they are really nice. It's right before Big Milley's. Private cabin is 25 Cedi. Large house is 50cedi. Perfect base for a day of hanging on the beach drinking cheap beer from the Reggae shack and body surfing. Get a taxi from anywhere for around 25 cedi.
Más sobre Kokrobite Garden, Franco's Place65: Firefly Lounge Bar
Good as a starting point for a friday night. Starts at about 11 pm. Drink prices ok, food is very very expensive.
Más sobre Firefly Lounge Bar66: Epo's Spot
Large outdoor bar, mostly local crowd, with some expats. They sell "beer towers"... 3 to 5 litres of draught beer in a plastic tube with its own tap for your table. Great option for after dinner, but before dancing.
Más sobre Epo's Spot67: Movenpick Hotel
The newest, fanciest 5 star hotel in town. There's a bar there that serves good finger food and cocktails, but it's expensive. Check it out at some point, but don't prioritise it.

South African bar chain, which does good (but expensive) burgers, and expensive drinks. No other real nightlife options in this part of town, girls tend to::text like the place more than guys.

Thai chef, good food. Unlikely location (inside some sort of day spa), you'll sometimes be the only people there.
Más sobre Thai restaurant75: Marvels mini golf
Great mini golf place - 18 hole course, looks to be only a year or two old. They also have burgers and hot dogs. Good for a Sunday afternoon, or a weeknight.
Más sobre Marvels mini golf76: Hotel Le Galion
Great little hotel with very basic not so clean but cheap rooms. Live music on weekends, amazing food, friendly staff. Good place to stay before you start your walk across Togo
Más sobre Hotel Le Galion77: Santoku
Perhaps the nicest and most expensive restaurant in West Africa. On the ground floor of Villagio Condos. (tall, Kente cloth colored apartment buildings) Super nice. You must dress up. Very expensive (Will cost you about $150 USD for dinner for 2) Good if you really want to impress someone. You can also get drinks and snacks at the bar instead of full dinner. Japanese-inspired food. All amazing but the sushi at Monsoon is better.
Más sobre Santoku78: Korean Restaurant (Moved)
Korean/Chinese restaurant in the hotel formerly known as the Shangri-La. Now something::text like Golden Sun. Really good Korean and Chinese food. You can sit on the floor if you want. Good for staff dinners. Get the roast duck. Yum. They also have a private karaoke room that might be the secret dodgy karaoke place that a Chinese guy told us about. You can reserve the karaoke room for large groups. Owner says she can also supply "hostesses". Ha!
Más sobre Korean Restaurant (Moved)79: Galaxy
Super casual restaurant and game room in the A&C mall parking lot. Thatched grass roof. (sure to burst into flames one day) Very cool vibe. They have pool tables and video games, but also a cool eating area in the center. Food is reasonably priced and decent. Eat here and then go over to Hollywood Blvd to rub shoulders with the East Legon elite and wannabees.
Más sobre Galaxy80: ChocoPain
This place appears to be closed. Maybe a new one will open.
Affectionately know as Chocolate Pain. French cafe that sells good smoothies, croissants and baguettes. Good for a last minute pastry for someone's birthday. It's on the other side of the Lizzy building from MEST
Más sobre ChocoPain81: La Villa Boutique Hotel Pool
Probably the most romantic and nicest pool in the city. Small but just very cozy. Excellent cocktails also. Around 10cedi to use the pool. Excellent for hanging on a hot Sunday with someone that you care about. Not a good pool to meet people. (for this go to La Palm, Labadi Beach Hotel, or Golden Tulip)
Más sobre La Villa Boutique Hotel Pool83: Nyaho Clinic (hospital)
Take people here if they are really sick. Bring cash as it's all cash and carry. There is an ATM walking distance in a pinch (if it's working). Fairly modern and pretty well organized. Typical severe Malaria case should run you less than 200 Cedi. Most taxi drivers know where it is. Pronounced Nya-ho clinic. (233-302) 775341/775291/784505
