Eatons Hill QLD 4037 - Tom: Swooped by two birds while walking past, birds seem to have a nest on the roof of the corner house. Must be a new spot as I walk there more or less often for last 3 years. Looks like magpie 2012 season has started, at least at Eatons Hill.
Wellington Point QLD 4160
Malcolm:- I was on my mobility scooter with my dog beside me on the footpath, a push bike rider came up beside me on the road with a magpie swooping on her as she rode down MacDonald Rd
Springwood QLD 4127
David:- This mongrel was here last year where it attacked drawing blood whilst riding bike to work, so stopped riding to work. Decided to ride to work today and it attacked again. Very aggressive to bike riders, saw it go for a young toddler who was being pushed on her bike by her mother, both were very scared. Needs to go!!! This is a very busy area as its territory is between two shopping centres and may bus stops. No cyclist is safe and those who are attacked by bird could easily swerve into traffic.
Runcorn QLD 4113
Margaret:- Magpie swooped bike riders (adult and kids). Didn't swoop those who dismounted and walked, but undetermined whether that was due to "decoy" remaining on bike. Didn't swoop north of cnr Methil/Selsey Sts.
Wynnum QLD 4178
Margaret:- I didn’t see it coming. It swooped my helmet from behind when I was riding my bicycle toward Wynnum Rd.
Nick: - Sign outside clubhouse warning golfers of the airborne threat
Everton Park QLD 4053
Jacinda:- Attacked while riding a bike at around 9am (not attacked the following day at 7.30am) Wasn't overly aggressive (never actually hit me - although I sure did start riding faster)
Alexandra Hills QLD 4161
Tony:- Magpie present and swoops every year at this location. Anyone walking in this area is unsafe, particularly children walking to and from school. Will attack front or back.
The Gap QLD 4061
Evelyn:- Magpies swopped us as we rode our bikes past the park
West Ipswich QLD 4305
Steve:- He wasn’t there last year but I suspect another Maggie has taken his spot, he “whomped” me on my helmet and then chased me up the hill almost up to the City View Hotel. That is the first hit for the season so when I got home I put my traditional zip tie defence on my helmet.
Archerfield QLD 4108
Terry:- I see people being swooped out the front of my office at 192 Beatty road. It happens regularly.
Upper Caboolture QLD 4510
Melissa:- Opposite Parkridge shops on Caboolture River Road. Attacked whilst on bicycle. Helmet hit six times.
Burpengary QLD 4505
Melissa:- Opposite Burpengary Meadows State School on Rowley Road. Magpie swooping but no hits.

Stephen:- Had just started an early morning run, hopped onto the pathway at the western side of the Les Huges Sporting complex when he swooped and hit me in the side of the head. He had a second go on the way back
Tarragindi QLD 4121
Deborah:- I was on my afternoon jog around the neighbourhood when a magpie swooped at me at least seven or eight times - chased me from Arunta street to Kuring-Gai Ave. Fortunately, I was able to fend him off and wasn't injured.
Lyall:- There is a magpie patrolling the entire street. It doesn't appear to always swoop, but is swooping residents and passing walkers on a regular basis. The first swoop appears to be a warning still and if you watch/protect yourself you can continue slowly without being stuck in a total stand off.
Mt Gravatt QLD 4122
Kylie:- My daughter gets swooped every time she walks through on her way to school and it has drawn blood. The magpie does not swoop my younger son. They were walking that way to avoid the other non magpie bird that swoops in front of the library on creek road.
Aspley QLD 4034
Kate:-Saw an eastbound cyclist being repeatedly swooped along Albany Creek Rd, between Trouts Rd & Railton St.
Caboolture QLD

Kellee:- Walking along, and we got swooped.
Aspley QLD 4034
Michael:- I regularly run around the cricket fields at Marchant Park, and over the past two weeks have been swooped by magpies. This happens most years, but fortunately they give up fairly easily. It should also be noted that crows are nesting in the trees on the park’s side, closer to Coolah St. I have been attacked here before, and have seen others attacked also. The crows do not give up easily, and have proceeded to chase for several hundred metres.
Auchenflower QLD 4066
Shane:- Cyclists along Land St, who emerge and cross from the underpass in a South West direction
QLD
Justin:- Swooped me as I crossed Maundrell Tce but they are on the park to the west of there. Have been there for years.

Burpengary QLD 4505
Celina:- Daily swooping when riding bikes to school
Carindale QLD 4152
Ace:- The magpie that doesn’t like cyclists is back. A great thump on the side of my helmet as I travelled west along Winstanley Street approaching the bridge over Bulimba Creek.
Graham:- I was travelling east on my bike (not west like Ace) when the magpie attacked. I was wearing a helmet and a bandanna covering my ears, but the bird still drew blood from my left ear, as I discovered when I tried to wipe what I thought was sweat from the side of my face. The magpie made a second swoop but pulled out at the last instant when I waved my fist at it.
Sandgate QLD 4017
David:- Magpies swoop on cyclists. They live in a tall tree on the western side of the street about mid-way along
Regents Park QLD 4118

Tarragindi QLD 4121
Peter:- A recalcitrant magpie is in residence and has previously attacked my while I was cycling – BCC has a warning sign up about him
Bray Park QLD 4500
Brad:- Magpie will continually swoop me every morning and afternoon, have resorted to turning hat backwards but he has cotton on to that and is getting closer and closer. Girlfriend will no longer run with me as a result. He will swoop as far as the opposite side of road, as far as the pedestrian bridge and up the footpath going up the hill towards the PCYC.
Annerley QLD 4103
Tony:- A man keeps feeding the magpies so now the street is overrun with the little fellas. Now they attack anyone with food in their hands. They are starting to nest now too.
Kallangur QLD 4503

Murrumba Downs QLD 4503
Kathleen:- Riding bike and swooped twice was in the morning
Eight Mile Plains QLD 4113

One of the attacks drew blood, provided first aid to the victim. Be careful! The nest is one of the tall trees along the road.
Nundah QLD 4012
Sharna:- I am a regular runner in my neighbourhood and just last week I went out for my usual route as while warming down at the end of my street got swooped by a magpie. The magpie chased me for about 200m . Initially I thought it was my fault as I had stooped to warm down under his tree. So my next run I came back a different way along the adjacent street . Low and behold the magpie swooped me again. Then today I went for my run and as soon as I walked out of my house I got swooped . This time it was more aggressive, flying closer and snapping its beak. It swooped me for 3 streets. Then on the way back I got swooped by 3 magpies at the end of my street. In Attewell street alone there would be 15+ magpie. And nundah is absolutely covered in them . And this season for some reason they appear to be more aggressive
Mitchelton QLD 4053
Daryl:- Swooped twice, no contact, just the whoosh of wings an a click of the beak
Yeronga QLD 4104
Margie:- Swooped at while cycling by.
North Lakes QLD 4509
Ken:- They attack small children only, especially if they are on bikes.
Bellbowrie QLD 4070
Jennifer:- There is a reserve/park and bus stop where the magpie is nesting and swooping. I'm a jogger and during the last two weeks he has swooped but not made contact. I carry a small dead branch with leaves that I wave over my head which so far has protected me from any injury. I certainly would not want the bird injured either hence just a small leafy stick that I wave close over my head with no intention to make contact with this protective creature.
Brighton QLD 4017
Peter:- Has started swooping along the bike path in the park, and will begin to strike soon. This magpie attacks to the right side of the face and right ear, often inflicting cuts. Last year I saw a runner quite deeply cut by this bird

Alan:- Went after a few walking dogs and joggers up towards the living faith school - he has been around for a few years now
Bray Park QLD 4500

Eastern Heights QLD 4305
Belinda:- My daughter Eleanor (aged five) was swooped twice but a magpie on the corner of Jackson and Orchard Streets in Eastern Heights this afternoon (Saturday the 25th of August, 2012). We were out on our scooters for an afternoon ride with my other two children (aged three and seven), when the magpie swooped twice on Eleanor. She was very shaken but physically fine.
Morayfield QLD 4506
Melanie:- My son has been getting swooped everyday lately riding his bike to school, he has even fallen off his bike one day when he was swooped. It gets close enough for him to hear its wings flapping on his helmet. My son says that he has only noticed it swooping People on bikes and not walkers.

Margaret- Cyclists swooped. Magpie lost interest north of Methil Street intersection.
Tarragindi QLD 4121

Payal:- have been attacked by this magpie on two different occasions at the same spot. I am not from Australia and the first time this happened, I didn't know that I was to avoid this location. The first time the magpie swooped down on me and drew blood from my head. The second time it swooped down on me twice and got the blood the first time while the second time I yelled and flung my hands in the air. I am now petrified to walk down that road again, even though this happened last year. But I am not going to check if or not this magpie is still around. I suspect he is as I later saw a sign put up on the street cautioning people to the breeding season!
