Eatons Hill QLD 4037 - Tom: Swooped by two birds while walking past, birds seem to have a nest on the roof of the corner house. Must be a new spot as I walk there more or less often for last 3 years. Looks like magpie 2012 season has started, at least at Eatons Hill.

David:- This mongrel was here last year where it attacked drawing blood whilst riding bike to work, so stopped riding to work. Decided to ride to work today and it attacked again. Very aggressive to bike riders,  saw it go for a young toddler who was being pushed on her bike by her mother, both were very scared. Needs to go!!! This is a very busy area as its territory is between two shopping centres and may bus stops. No cyclist is safe and those who are attacked by bird could easily swerve into traffic.

Stuart:- The magpie made some noises in the trees... I noticed it was a particularly angry squark and then I realised what was happening (being new to cycling). It didn't make contact with me, though I'm not sure if that's because it's a more tame magpie or if it's because I was riding over 45kmh to get away! I've changed my route to simply go up Childs Rd and down St Vincents and so far have had no swoops.

Lyall:- There is a magpie patrolling the entire street. It doesn't appear to always swoop, but is swooping residents and passing walkers on a regular basis. The first swoop appears to be a warning still and if you watch/protect yourself you can continue slowly without being stuck in a total stand off.

The magpie chased me for about 200m . Initially I thought it was my fault as I had stooped to warm down under his tree. So my next run I came back a different way along the adjacent street . Low and behold the magpie swooped me again. Then today I went for my run and as soon as I walked out of my house I got swooped . This time it was more aggressive, flying closer and snapping its beak. It swooped me for 3 streets. Then on the way back I got swooped by 3 magpies at the end of my street. In Attewell street alone there would be 15+ magpie. And nundah is absolutely covered in them . Payal:- have been attacked by this magpie on two different occasions at the same spot. I am not from Australia and the first time this happened, I didn't know that I was to avoid this location. The first time the magpie swooped down on me and drew blood from my head. The second time it swooped down on me twice and got the blood the first time while the second time I yelled and flung my hands in the air. I am now petrified to walk down that road again, even though this happened last year. But I am not going to check if or not this magpie is still around. I suspect he is as I later saw a sign put up on the street cautioning people to the breeding season!

Magpie is nestled in a tree behind the block of units ( 5 Crawford Ave) and will fly up and down the street 100m to attack. Will use claws and beak and someone told me they had a cut head from him.

Jackie:- Walking around PCYC walkway, when I turned corner to Francis Rd from Wilsmith St  side I was swooped twice by magpie, first swoop hit top of my cap, then magpie  landed on power line and watched me continue walking, second swoop drew blood at  back of my ear. It was 5 August 2012 so I wasn’t expecting magpie swooping so  early, I thought it started in September. Since then I have stopped walking  outside, I use a treadmill at home or at the gym.
