Herdsman Fresh sell gourmet produce, fresh bread, fruit, coffee and ready to eat meals. Their cherry frozen yoghurt is divine.

This is my favourite day spa. All organic.

Heaps of birdlife here including black swans. Be careful they don't take your arm off.

I've been visiting Jimmy Deans since I was about 15. The food is consistently good and well priced, especially on weekdays where you can get lunch and a drink for about $13.
My fave is the chicken salad & a cherry coke.

I really love the crystal shop here and there are some really nice little jewellery shops too. Sometimes they have psychic fairs.

There's a nice park here, green and overlooks a fairly calm beach. I've never been to it though.

There is an awesome house here that has an infinity pool on the 2nd level. I saw it in a magazine once. Apparently the people that live there can sit in the pool and look out over the ocean with nothing hindering their view.

King Neptune is a remnant from the old Atlantis water park that was open in the 1980s and closed in approx 1989. They used to have dolphins and swimming pools, waterslides etc. I think Neptune is heritage listed.

Pretty sure the land is private & you can't trespass but plenty of people have gotten inside and taken pictures sitting in Neptune's hand. There are other sculptures around too.

Jas took me here on our trip to Lancelin. He used to visit as a kid. It's pretty cool because the river meets the sea. Sometimes it breaks through the sand but other times you get a huge sandbar and can walk between the river and the ocean. It's surrounded by bush and very serene. Not a lot else up here though. just a little fishing town.

We stayed here in Spring 2010. It's just simple rooms but clean and friendly. Great if you want a holiday by the beach. the sand up here is so white and fine.

This road has been extended and now goes all the way to Jurien. Google hasn't updated the map yet so try the RAC.

This park is really nice. It costs about $10 a car to get in.
There are koalas, a limestone cave, a little lake where they sometimes have rowboats and water pedal bikes. Lots of picnic grass and heaps of wildlife and birdlife.

When I was a kid we used to always go to the other side at Kings Meadow. The play equipment always looked better on the other bank!

There's a little bakery around here that make some really nice pumpkin bread.

This place is an institution. It's a simple burger joint but it's been going for decades. They have a huge fire outside on cold nights.

They used to have international cricket matches here.

This is a historical mansion built by Charles Harper who (from memory) established Guildford Grammar school. We used to go here a lot as there were tearooms in the old coach houses & my Grandad used to like the Ploughman's lunch there. They sometimes did sound and light shows. It's now a museum and popular spot for wedding pictures. To access it you have to drive down through the high school grounds.

The Junction icecreamy has been here since the late 1980s. The Honeycomb crunch is really great.

Really lovely winery here where you can take a picnic lunch or buy food from the cafe to enjoy under the jacaranda trees. You can buy their wine and enjoy it on the grounds. There's a little cellar with some museum items too.
Sometimes they do live concerts.

Italian cafe with great cakes, coffee and nougat.
Blink and you'll miss it but from memory it has a green roof.

One of, if not THE oldest churches and graveyards in Perth. They still do services on Sundays. It can be a bit creepy in the grounds but the trees are pretty.

Bells Rapids is bushland with the river running through it and is a popular (and dangerous) spot on the Avon Decent water race. It's a picnic spot with some great scenery. Not recommended that you swim here due to the current. Don't suggest going alone or at night.

Market City sells lots of fresh fruit and veg and basically operates like a giant swapmeet. During the week they are a packing and distribution centre and on the weekends the markets are open to the public.

Here they have cinemas where you can sit in giant bean bags. I've never been but it sounds cool.

Wildflowers in spring including loads of orchids.
Ellis Brook is home to the Sixty Foot Falls. There is a hike to the top and then on a clear day you can see out to the city. It is hard to get a mobile signal here so don't go alone and take care in bushfire season.

This place sells the most beautiful roses and fruit trees. The garden centre is beautiful and they have both a cafe and playground under the trees.

Le Paris Brest is a little French patisserie serving beautiful cakes and fancy cafe food. Best to go earlier in the day (especially on weekends) else there will be nothing left!

Stirk Park has beautiful deciduous trees and looks best in Autumn. There is a kid's playground and some parkland here. There is also a small cottage on the Kalamunda road side that used to be home to the Stirk family - Kalamunda pioneers.

If you turn left here at Williams St (heading north) you can follow it all the way down to the Zig Zag. You can sit at the top of the Zig Zag and enjoy the view or choose to drive down it.

Supposedly haunted by a girl who jumped to her death. It's creepy at night for sure.

Follow Mundaring Weir Road for a winding drive through the hills to Mundaring or the Observatory. The gullies are nice as they're full of orchards.

I don't know if this is still open but we used to love the waterslides here. They had 2 twisty slides, a speedslide called the Screaming Demon (I was never game to try it), racing slides and some swimming pools.

You can ride camels here.

We went here for New Years Eve back in 95 or 96. It's a lovely old hotel but a bit spooky and supposedly haunted. They have a room in the middle which back then had charcoal portraits on the walls which only made it spookier.

From memory there are some old signals and train stuff here which is kind of cool.

I have always wanted to eat at this restaurant. It's French and I think it does degustation only. Loads of awards and highly praised. It's lovely to drive past at night because the trees are all lit up.

Views out towards the city.

We spent so much time here as kids. They have kids and adults pools including a full size Olympic pool and diving boards. We used to take food to use the barbecues and come up here on summer evenings. Every season they used to change the colour of the bathing suit of the girl on the diving board sign (when she wasn't stolen!).

180 degree views out over the plains, the airport, city skyline and on a clear day down towards Fremantle and up towards Joondalup and beyond. Nice in the daytime and at night but make sure to lock doors and look out for kangaroos and other wildlife at night as no lights up there.

Fish market and gourmet fish cafe. The teriyaki salmon was really nice.

Seriously good coffee here. They also serve their water in these awesome big brown bottles. Small but good location for some moody cafe photos.

Fresh Provisions is a gourmet supermarket with fresh fruit and veg, ready to eat meals etc.

I haven't used this place but have heard awesome things and seen some fabulous colour work.

Really lovely pub with great food and custom flavoured vodkas. A little pricey but good quality.

That Little Mexican Place.
I haven't been to this one but have visited them at their old location in Bentley. Simple surroundings but beautiful, honest and very filling food. Authentic Mexican, not tacos etc.

I've never been here but it looks awesome.

The old asylum. One of Australia's most haunted buildings.

There's an old federation style house over here that looks pretty cool.

You'll often see skateboarders around the disused warehouses here. Urban and gritty and good backgrounds for portraits with all the torn posters.

Fairly easy to get parking here and one of the cheapest.

Pizza Bella Roma is fabulous and where Jason and I had our first date.

They actually seem to know what they're talking about in here. You can buy film etc and get prints made.

The chicken nachos are pretty good and they have more types of tequila than you can poke a stick at.

A kabillion years ago this spot used to be Papa Guiseppes and my dad used to practically live in here swilling coffee. It's evolved over the years and Ginos has taken over. Another Freo institution. Don't know if it's any good but it's always full.

Cicerellos has been here for decades. When I was a kid it was mainly for the fisherman and was a big fish market full of fishtanks and you could get basic fish and chips, albeit very good ones. It has evolved now into a huge cafe, still with funky fish tanks and the food is still pretty good but they get very busy. This is the place to go if you want fish and chips in paper.

Kailis Bros has a cafe and a fishmarket here. Extremely busy and popular. The food is awesome.

Great views from the top of here looking back down High street to the town hall. Underneath is the old whaling tunnel. The Roundhouse itself was a convict built prison.

Houses Australia II which won the America's cup. Also has the jacket worn by Bob Hawke and a bunch of other important maritime stuff. Outside are the welcoming walls listing names of hundreds of families that came through the port when they migrated to Australia - Including Jason's dad's family. The walls of the museum look great at sunset when the light bounces off them.

Wildflowers in spring and a telecommunications museum.

In November this street is alive with jacarandah trees and they have a festival here.

It's nice walking or driving around here with the fancy houses and the pretty trees.

My favourite spot.

Approximate spot. Every year on October 12th the sunrise lights up the names of those West Australians lost in the Bali tragedy of October 2002.

The curved wall surrounding the flame of remembrance is a whisper wall. If you lean in and whisper, someone at the other end should be able to hear you.

There is a tree near the Whisper Wall that was planted by The Queen during the 1950s.

A long, open grassy area stretching about 1.5km between the tower and the playground.

This is the big adventure playground with an island, play equipment, barbeques etc. It's also the area where the outdoor cinema is held in summer.

I've seen some massive kookaburras here.

Jean Claude patisserie. The best coffee eclairs in Perth! Fabulous sandwiches, gourmet cakes and artisian breads. Open Mon-Fri. This is just a little shopfront you can't eat in. I usually park nearby, buy food and then drive to Kings Park with it.

Bread made by the Benedictine monks of New Norcia. Fabulous cakes and other goodies.

It can get quite claustrophobic in here, but the fresh fruit and veg is cheap and the fresh flowers are fabulous and cheap too.

It's not flash, but we used to come here as a family in the 80s and Jason and I stayed a few times back between 2002 and 2005. The rooms are basic but the service is really nice and we always liked the food & proximity to cinemas.

You can get a little boat across from Shoalwater. Don't walk across the sandbar because if the current changes you're screwed.

This is the official Naval Base. You can't get over here I don't think.

Restaurants, calm beach and a holiday vibe.

This looks pretty awesome lit up at night. It's a nickel refinery. From the beach side it looks like some kind of futuristic waterslide.

A huge blue building with silos and some cool shapes. Can't miss it.

If you like drag racing and other noisy bogan stuff.

The food here is fabulous. Laid back vibe and loads of local beer, wine and cider.

Very busy but we did enjoy our food there.

Art deco pub. Used to be a notoriously rowdy live venue with a great history. Then they did it up and put a fancy tower behind it. Now it doesn't do concerts and is really expensive.

Part of the university

Beautiful gadens. A popular spot for weddings and nice to explore on the weekends. Especially like the sunken gardens, peacocks and the arches.

Free cheese and wine tasting.

This is a huge cinema, I think they have about 14 screens or something. the Gold Class here is really cool because it's a private cinema with reclining seats you can put your feet up on. They bring you food (that you order & pay for) throughout the movie...which can get a little distracting but is pretty fancy.

Great burgers and huge fancy baked pancakes.

The buffet here at the Hyatt's "Cafe" is phenomenal.

Back of the Perth Concert Hall.

In my opinion, the nicest and strongest in Perth. Fair trade. They've won awards.

Quite pricey but I've always enjoyed the food and coffee here. Extensive wine list. Nice window light.

Love the food here! A bit kitsch with the country Aussie vibe but the food is great.

Still a working mint, you can buy and trade coins and precious metals here and there is a museum where you can witness a gold pour. We went on our honeymoon, it's pretty cool =)

Enex has a great food court on the top level and many boutique stores including: Napolean Perdis, kikki K, Dangerfield, JB Hifi etc. At the bottom level on the St Georges Tce side there is a Woolworths supermarket.

Devilles is a hell themed supper club with a retro vibe. You have to be over 25 and dressed to impress to get in. They have magicians and go-go dancers and lots of theme nights.

For repairs, equipment purchase and hire and film/paper supplies.

The Good Store sells fantastic, useful gifts.

Jas and I used to go for weekend lunches here quite a bit. The back rooms have pool tables and there is a nice little restaurant here too. I had my Hens drinks here with a couple of friends and my sister.

This deli imports a heap of magazines directly from the UK and Europe as they are released. They also sell fresh flowers.

Cinnamon On The Park - We've been coming here for about 5yrs. It's our favourite Indian food.

I haven't been here but have heard good things about it.

I've seen some beautiful colour work done by this place.

Silks Bistro here make some pretty good food and they always have a nice cake display. We had our engagement party here in 2008. They were really great at helping us organise it and making sure we were looked after.

This is our local. It's really nice and they've just added a gold class section too.

My mum friends think this is a pretty good playground to take the kids to.

There are about 4-5 Opshops here. Anglicare, St Vinnies, Good Sammys, Salvos etc.

Red Cray. We have had some nice seafood platters and lobster here.

As well as local trains, East Perth is where the interstate train "Indian Pacific" leaves from as well as some of the Hotham Valley trains (ie the Avon restaurant car) and most of the Trans WA coaches for exploring the regional areas.

Disused power station. They were doing it up to house the WA Museum but not sure what's happening with it now.

This is an optical illusion sculpture of one of those 3D triangles that don't actually exist. I think if you go to the park nearby there's a spot where you can stand and see it 'complete'.

I have it on good authority from friends that the coffee here is pretty damn good.

My favourite gift for guys. their nuts are awesome. They do showbags during the Royal Show and have a stand at Fremantle Markets too.

Arthouse films.

I've never been here either but I understand they play live rockabilly music and have a good sports bar. I think it's hard to get into.

On the edge of the piazza is a little cafe called CNR. We discovered it last year when at TAFE. The coffee is great but even better they do these handcut chips with this saffron citrus mayo stuff. Yum.

It's pretty nice in here! We went for a birthday treat once and I've also had some beauty treatments done. The marker isn't quite right. This is in 'city' arcade so if you stand out the front on Hay st it's the right hand side (where the jewellery shop is) and go up the escalator.

If you need a fancy hat, bag or fascinator for a wedding, ball, races etc this is the place.

There is another branch of Ristretto here. The coffee is still good but I wasn't so thrilled with the seating.

The walls are covered with pots of strawberries and the place is made to look like a giant box of vegies. Food is done very differently here and the chef, Matt Stone is getting loads of attention.

I like the shape of this building. it's quite nice in the late afternoon with the sunlight bouncing off it. I used to spend my breaks walking from Bankwest down the hill, along the esplanade and back up barrack st to St Georges tce.

The big pyramid thing here used to be a tropical terrarium/greenhouse but I think it's now closed. It's quite pretty around here with a pergola covered in wisteria.

There are some really nice little cafes and some gourmet food shops along here. Good for sandwiches etc.

This little 7 day supermarket has some great little tubs of icecream etc and it's cheaper to get drinks and treats from here than from the park kiosks.

24hr entertainment complex

They make some fabulous sushi and sashimi here as well as other gourmet food. The restaurant overlooks the hotel's pool. We have had a few special occasions here including our engagement lunch. The portions are small but rich.

Irish pub. I've always quite liked it here.

18+ Simple carvery and buffet. Accessible via the main gaming floor.

Mainly arthouse films here. If you walk through the main doors to the right there are little retro booths and this leads through to a little bar with this cool fireplace with a face on it.

Great coffee and really nice food. have been here for breakfast which was amazing. It can get very busy though. You order and pay at the counter.

Francois patisserie make these amazing little artisian mousse cakes and petit fours.

Sweetlips Fish & Chips.

It's hard to miss as it's FULL of paper lanterns and concert posters. Down the back are pool tables, an old coke machine and loads of couches. It looks like a cool place to hang out but frustratingly when I've been in there are no menus anywhere.

I'm not really sure what this place is called but the beer garden is lovely and it's the only place I've had a decent lemon, lime & bitters.

Greyhound dog racing. They have theme nights and Christmas functions (inc in July). The buffet is fairly nice. This is also where they hold the Canning show around Oct/Nov.
