Take Indiana Route 2 through LaPorte towards Westville. Go 9 miles to where 421 and Route 2 intersect and turns left (South). Go straight through the intersection. This becomes CR 300 South. A little short of a mile turn left on to CR 1100 West. Go a bit more than 1/2 mile and parking is on the right (West) side of the road. Helmets are required.
Biking is allowed only on west side of the road and hiking is allowed on the east side of the road

From downtown LaPorte, take Lincolnway (Hwy 2) west to 2nd St.
Make a right on 2nd and follow west - parallel to RR tracks.
Turn right at Small Rd, cross over tracks, & follow for about 1 mile to Lake Shore Dr (on the right). Trailheads are not marked but are across from the boat launch & near the softball fields.

The trail begins in the parking lot across from Van Paris Shelter. The trail cross the park road, watch for the trail posts. To get back to the start of the trail turn left onto the road, then turn right at the T intersection.
