"At 0920D*, an explosion occured in PD5. Apparently, it was an accidental explosion of ammunition. Investigation are ongoing. Update on category. UPDATE 2125D* KCP LNO updated the BDA. MTF. UPDATE 060917D* At 060855D* KCP LNO reported that, Blast occured while children playing with 'warhead'. 3 little boy killed. One little injured child 5 other wounded LNs rushed to a civilian hospital nearby. Update on casualties. Update 1251D* WISWO REPORT At approximately 0915D*, whilst searching for scrap metal to salvage and resell, a group of children found various UXOs. It is unknown exactly what occurred, however the munition detonated amongst the group of children, killing x 3 (aged under 10 yrs of age) and wounding a further x 6. It is assessed that the munition, a Projectile 82mm, HEAT, Type 65 had been blind and thrown into the sewage pool where the UXOs were located. Other objects such as expended RPG motors, mortar tails, fuzes, projectiles and empty landmine bodies as well as used syringes and excrement littered the area. "Minor SAFIREs IVO FOB Martello, Kandahar ----SAFIRE # 1 220435Z 0640ZNOV08 42S TA 4620 6990 FRIENDLY MISSION/OPERATION TF EAGLE ASSAULT conducted an air assault of Coalition Forces and the 205th Afghan Commandos into OBJ HAMMER, in the vicinity of 42S TA 46508 69499 to deny Anti-Afghanistan (AAF) safe haven and to disrupt IED cells operating in the Zamto Valley. TIMELINE OF MAJOR EVENTS 0435Z: A TF EAGLE ASSAULT Attack Weapons Team (AWT) arrived and JAG 26 (ground forces)reported being engaged by 10-15 x AAF. From 0435Z to 0640Z, while providing close combat attack support to troops in contact, the AWT was engaged by AAF in the vicinity of 42S TA 462 699 and 42S TA 459 694 with small arms fire. Throughout the mission, the lead aircraft operated at 900FT AGL, varying speeds, and directions and the trail aircraft operated at 1800FT AGL, varying speeds and directions. The AWT returned fire with 570 x 30mm rounds, 35 x HEPD, and 1 x K2A Hellfire. The AWT confirmed 14 x AAF killed from the engagements. 0640Z: The AWT departed with lift 2 for Qalat (QLT) to refuel. 0721Z: The Assault Force arrived at Kandahar Airfield for end of mission. **NOTE: Following the engagement, reporting indicated that AAF engaged the AWT with armor piercing rounds. Two MEDEVACs were carried out for 3 x ANA WIA (CAT A) and 1 x ANA WIA (CAT B). One was carried out by RC W and the other one by RC N. It was reported that around 40 x ANA were kidnapped by INS. "2008-11#1439 G3 OPS reported a RTA 100m west of V3 on VIOLET road. HESCO UK employee and LN are involved. Large hostile crowd is around the vehicle, so QRF of Camp Souter has been sent IOT clear and cordon the area. More informations are coming. UPDATE 1 Hostile crowd about 300x peoples on the spot. QRF pick up the HESCO UK employee and withdraw to Camp SOUTER. UPDATE 2 KCP LNO report from KCP PD9 that there were LNs KIA in this RTA. Possible warning shot from HESCO UK employees. UPDATE 3 KCP LNO reported 2x LN killed, 3x LN wounded. UPDATE 4 1715D* UK Embassy reports that members of their staff were moving to KAIA behind 2 x OEF RG32 armoured vehicles along Route Violet. One of the armoured vehicles collided with a minivan causing the minivan to lose control and hit a building on the side of the road. The two armoured vehicles did not stop. As the British Embassy staff moved past the accident they reported seeing a body underneath the minibus but they did not stop. An unarmed UK employee of the ESKO Group, who provides life support to the British Embassy, was also driving along Route Violet when he and his driver got caught up in the violent crowd that had gathered at the accident scene. The ESKO employee and driver extracted themselves from the scene by using back streets and eventually abandoning their vehicle. The UK Embassy staff activated the Camp SOUTER QRF to aid the extraction of the ESKO employee and driver. By the time the QRF arrived the Embassy staff had confirmed that the ESKO employee and driver were safe and the QRF were no longer required. ISAF received a first impression report through USFOR-A that matches this event. ***Event closed at 301906D*"
