var55_Paragraph1_Text: HIV comes home to haunt women and children, especially in Africa when war sends soldiers off to battle. Marie Claire contracted HIV from her husband when he came back from the war and unwittingly passed it to her third child, Bobette. "Surviving the genocide, I did not believe that living with HIV/AIDS would be my fate." Today she is active in HIV/AIDS education and cultivates land in her community with other women in the co-op formed with her Women for Women International group.
