Ronald Scott Mitchell, 52. A pastor and counselor at Cedar Mill Bible Church, Mitchell bled to death after being shot in the upper chest in his Beaverton home on Sept. 22. Authorities said his son, Jonathan Scott Mitchell, 24, who was on probation for drug possession, forgery and escape at the time of the shooting, got into an argument with his father in their home on Southwest Ridgecrest Drive. The elder Mitchell didn't approve of his son's girlfriend and told both to leave. After the woman drove off, Jonathan Mitchell came back to the house with a .22-caliber Derringer, broke a window in the back door and shot his father at point-blank range through the window as the elder Mitchell tried to secure the door. Jonathan Mitchell pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 11-1/2 years in prison.
