(Unsolved)
Lorenzo "Loni Kai" Igisaiar Okaruru, 28. On Aug. 26, a 16-year-old girl found the body of Lorenzo Igisaiar Okaru, a transgender woman also known as Loni Kai, in knee-high grass about 100 yards from her home in the 27000 block of Southwest Farmington Road, about four miles south of Hillsboro. Detectives said Okaruru, a native of Saipan who lived in Aloha, was savagely beaten around the head and face with a blunt instrument at a different location and dumped in the field. Detectives said Okaruru probably was killed as a hate crime. The case remains unsolved. The sheriff's office is offering a $4,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Crime Stoppers funded $2,500 of the reward, with the rest coming from human rights groups, including the West County Council for Human Dignity. Anyone with information can call a detective at 503-846-2594, or Crime Stoppers at 503-823-HELP (4357) or online at http://www.crimestoppersoforegon.com/
