Gary R. Walker, 56, died of a single gunshot to the throat Oct. 1 in his home in the 3000 block of Brooke Street, Forest Grove, during what police said was a domestic dispute. His wife, Patricia Ann Walker, 55, gave different versions of the shooting, from a mercy shooting because her husband was ill to being a battered wife who grabbed a gun from the bedroom and it accidentally went off. Gary Walker ran the Forest Grove FedEx franchise after successfully running, and later selling, a pair of restaurants in Newport. Patricia Walker pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
