Felipe Jaime Perez Texta, 25. Perez, of Tualatin, was shot four times Jan. 2 in a second-floor hallway of a Hillsboro apartment complex in the 700 block of Northwest Fieldcrest Way. Detectives arrested Che Allan Loe, 31, two days after Perez's death while making a child welfare check at a home in the 200 block of Southeast 15th Avenue in Hillsboro. According to police reports, Loe was jealous of Perez's friendship with Loe's girlfriend. At trial, Loe claimed self-defense and testified that he emptied a .32-caliber semiautomatic handgun at Perez. Four bullets hit Perez: one in the face, one in the chest and two in the buttocks. Loe was convicted of first-degree manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years, 10 months in prison.
