Description: Located in District Sanghar, Chotiari reservoir lies in between desert and wetland habitats which have resulted in flora and fauna occurring from both sides. Chotiari reservoir and surroundings therefore have the highest number of fauna species over all four programme sites. Biodiversity richness is especially prominent in birds, small mammal and reptiles/amphibians with 80 bird, 26 small mammals and 31 reptiles and amphibians species recorded during the programme's ecological baseline. The reservoir also supports numerous fisherfolk whilst the remaining communities rely on agriculture or livestock as their main income. Chotiari reservoir also supports a number of migratory birds as well as some rare resident species such as Marbled Teal. |
