Newcastle was designated as one of six UK Science Cities in 2005 in recognition of the world-class research being undertaken by its universities.
Since then, Newcastle Science City has continued to support, nurture and promote relationships between the universities, local businesses and investors for the benefit of the regional economy.

Running a wide range of events and training, Newcastle Science City also hosts the monthly 'First Friday' breakfast networking sessions at Central Bean coffee house on the first Friday of each month (between 8-10am).
