Erbil (Kurdish: ??????, Hewlêr) is the capital of the official Federal Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has been governing the Kurdish-majority provinces within Iraq since 2003. The KRG is based in Erbil.
