In a city so steeped in history, especially when it comes to art, finding interesting, non-institutional exhibitions can be rare. But at Air de Paris directors Florence Bonnefous and Edouard Merino know how to challenge and surprise.
Moving out of the city’s traditional art centers, the two opened their gallery in the industrial, not yet shabby-chic 13th arrondissement. With the support of a smattering of other galleries that followed, Air de Paris has been foundational in re-establishing Paris on the contemporary art map.
With a penchant for international artists, the gallery shows art stars of the highest, most interesting stature including the collective Claire Fontaine, Olaf Breuning, Liam Gillick, Carsten Höller, Sarah Morris and many more.
