A report of heavy attacks on the city of Zawia by Gadaffi mercenaries. One unconfirmed report claims that the attack included air and marine elements. Another unconfirmed report claims that Gadaffi threatened people in the city that if they did not disperse within hours, they would be exposed to heavy fire. An additional unconfirmed report of 50 people killed and 200 injured in ensuing violence. Report of use of large calibre, anti-aircraft and heavy artillery weapons. An unconfirmed report that the attack is by the "Alkhaweldy" (phonetic transliteration) Brigade. An unconfirmed report claims that people are unable to collect bodies because they come under sniper fire when they attempt to do so. Another report said that the attack came from the east side of the city, was directed at peaceful protestors. A number of unconfirmed reports reject claims reported elsewhere and say that the city remains in the control of protesters.
